the road shoe for trail people. speedland's RX:PNW takes everything they know about building trail race equipment and points it at the road, for the training blocks that live between mountain seasons. same trick as the rest of the line: pull the rigid carbon plate and drop-in midsole and it's a daily trainer, drop them back in for race day. the difference here is the foam, an uncompressed supercritical build that's the springiest thing they've made. boa fit and a scratch rubber outsole for pavement. design details nod to the pacific northwest and to speedland athlete cam hanes, whose alaska backcountry shoe, the GS:RAR, came out of the same athlete-led process. one to know: the removable midsole means no custom insoles, so orthotics runners should look elsewhere. $299 direct from speedland.
