hdrop

our take

adria abella villafranca built hdrop because he could not solve his own problem. he was a spanish pro tennis player finishing an engineering degree in arkansas, cramping through matches in brutal southern heat while following the advice everyone gets, which is to drink water until your urine runs clear. he was diluting his blood sodium and walking onto the court already in trouble. the fix was sodium. the company came after.

what we like is that hdrop is a reusable device rather than a consumable. one sensor, no patches to reorder, no refills, and you read it live in real training conditions instead of after the fact. it tracks sweat rate, total sweat loss, sodium loss, potassium loss and body temperature, and it pushes to your phone or a hammerhead karoo mid-effort.

it is also small in the ways that matter. fifty thousand dollars of outside money in seven years and nothing since. the first two thousand units assembled by hand on folding tables in adria's apartment. a support line that still ends at the founder's own calendar after more than a thousand calls. read the full story of how two cups of cafeteria water became a company in our hdrop brand story.
